We are planning a trip in July 2009, ideally for a month, to Vancouver and we notice that you wanted for the same period. Would you be interested in an exchange with our downtown Paris apartment?
3 Rue Rollin 75005 Paris - is a peaceful pedestrian street (one of the posh residential hideouts in Quartier Latin). Of all the 10+ exchangers that have stayed in our apartment, several have come back – it is so amazing and truly Parisian.
Located in Paris city centre in the heart of the Quartier Latin (5th Arrondissement – 75005 Paris) and also walking distance to Seine, Notre Dame, Luxembourg Gardens, Botanical Gardens to name a few). A peaceful pedestrian residential street and our apartment is overlooking a small beautiful square in two levels with a small fountain. On this street, lived Ernest Hemingway as well as René Descartes (renowned for his Cartesian philosophy). On the other side, this street ends in the lively Place de Contrescarpe and the Mouffetard area where academia (from Sorbonne, Polytechnique, etc) as well as tourists drop in for a nice glass of wine and intellectual discussions. A few steps away is the beautiful jardin des Plantes (Botanical gardens) in all its peace and serenity. Next door is also the Arène de Lutèce (Roman Amphitheatre renovated by Victor Hugo and dedicated to the French goddess Lutetia) – good to have a picnic lunch amidst birds and flowers. In addition, there are different smaller gardens and flowery parks around where you can just sit and enjoy the sun and the fresh air. For gastronomic pleasures, you can check out the traditional marché place Monge or the marché place Maubert, to grab local delicacies – cheese, ham and wines. The different traditional restaurants on Rue Monge and the Mouffetard area are also worth discovering. And if you want to travel all over Paris, you have different Metro connections and several bus lines just a short walk from our apartment. The location is so convenient that for arrival & departure from the airport you can use public transport (1 change only) to come right to our doorstep. There are trains to Versailles every 15 mins, from Gare d’Austerlitz (just across the Botanical Gardens). Besides, you can always go walking to le Marais or Bastille, which is just across the river Seine, or to the lively area of St Germain des Prés – these are all a casual stroll away.
Our apartment is well equipped with Broadband Internet connection – WiFi / USB / Fast Ethernet. I also have a telephone subscription for calling N. America landline & cell phones – so you can use the telephone as well, during your stay. Of course, all dishes, utensils, glasses as well as bed-sheets, covers, towels, etc are all at your disposal. All our exchangers get the feeling that they enjoy Paris as a real Parisian. There are plenty of books, Paris guides, restaurant guides, etc to discover Paris as well as DVDs, music CDs for home entertainment. We can arrange for a weekly cleaning maid.
What I'm Looking For :
Regarding the exchange timing, we are searching an exchange for the month of July 2009 (though you can stay longer in Paris) – dates are slightly flexible and we will buy our flight tickets after confirmation with you. Please let me know your availabilities so we can finalise at the earliest. Our apartment in Paris is a second home and thus you can stay in Paris, practically any time of the year. If you want it also earlier in end-June, please let me know. July is also one of the best months in Paris. In addition, June-Julyare holiday months, so less traffic in streets, less people in métros and buses, less queues in museums, etc. Helps to appreciate the city at your own time.
