We have our eyes on NYC, New York City for Easter week-end, Friday April 10 to Monday April 13, 2009.
We would love to swap homes, our Montreal Latin Quarter mini loft, about 1000 square feet, which includes a cozy bedroom under slanted roof with red brick walls for your similar cozy home in Greenwich Village or SOHO.
We have two affectionate and recently neutered black cats who enjoy being fed at least once a day and love a few brush strokes on occasion: Picasso and Paloma.
In the exchange we could take care of your plants and pets during our stay.
My girlfriend and I are well traveled. Our place is quite cozy and extremely central to the nightlife of Montreal's Latin Quarter.
Our place is located 4 streets from the Montreal International Jazz Festival, http://www.montrealjazzfest.com/Fijm2008/accueil_en.aspx, which occurs during the first 2 weeks of July, near bars that specialise in scotches or rhums. French bistros, Italien, Indian, Asian and sushi restaurants abound foot steps away. 3 very different cinémas are located less than 2 blocks away. They include a French cinéma Quartier Latin, Canada's National Film Board http://www3.onf.ca/cinerobotheque/ and la Cinémathèque québecoise, http://www.cinematheque.qc.ca/. Quebec's ultra-modern Grande Bibliothèque Nationale, http://www.banq.qc.ca/portal/dt/accueil.jsp?bnq_resolution=mode, offers a wealth of culture and rather extensive collection of books, magazines and audio-visual materials for rainy or torrid summer and spring days. It is also about 2 small blocks away. Come evening, you can catch a modern dance show or play at l'Agora de la danse, http://www.agoradanse.com/, or le Centre Pierre Péladeau, both less than 5 minutes away from our home. For more traditional, most polished shows, La Place des Arts (Montreal's Metropolitan Theatre), http://www.pda.qc.ca/index.fr.html, is a brisk 10 minute walk or 8$ cab away.
Our home is toasty warm with maple red-hued and thick wooden floors, some exposed red brick walls and small windows that jut through the slanted roof.of the century old home. The University of Quebec in Montreal (UQAM) and several other art galeries are located nearby, as well as a grocery store, bakery, pharmacy and Archambault musique store are all walkable within 10 minutes.
You'll find several appliances (high-speed internet, one of these days I'll hook up the wireless router again, small flat-screen TV, mini washer and dryer) and an eclectic collection of books, movies and music.
If you're interested I can forward you some pics of our place.
